If you can’t rejoice over a headache that goes away, you can’t be trusted with an empty wheel chair. Our celebration has to be not in the magnitude of the miracle but in (His) presence that showed up. It can’t even be because something happened. It has to be because He’s here. Otherwise, we will calibrate our joy according to the response, and you never judge God based on mankind’s response. Jesus referred to ten lepers being healed, one returned. You don’t discredit Jesus because only one returned and nine went their way. The absence of thankfulness in the nine does not discredit God or the work that Jesus did. What He did was absolutely perfect. Their response was not. God is never on trial because of man’s response.
